At U8’s we concentrate on “Child Centred Learning”. In short we want the children (girls and boys) to have as much fun as possible whilst playing rugby (in all weather conditions).
We play tag rugby which is in line with the RFU’s guidelines to age graded rugby. Contact rugby will come later and we want the children to progress to this stage having fun learning the key skills of the game.
All our coaches and helpers are DBS checked led by Head Coaches Stacey and Bill. Many of the coaches are parents and we encourage parents to get involved wherever possible.
Please ask our Team Managers - Emily and Hayley are on hand to help with any questions.
Our Principals of Guiding our U8’s revolves around the 5 key RFU principals namely…
T - TEAMWORK
R - RESPECT
E - ENJOYMENT
D - DISCIPLINE
S - SPORTSMANSHIP
We deliver this through child centred learning ensuring that all games are….
A - ACTIVE
P - PURPOSEFUL
E - ENJOYABLE
S - SAFE
Through this we hope to develop the children’s skills meeting the RFU’s key principals.
During the course of the year we aim to get all the children to at least 1 tournament.
Our coaching philosophy is focused on helping children, coaches and parents to gain a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in playing rugby. Success is not about winning – Play to Win, Lose with a Grin.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Team Manager or Head Coach (Warriors u8s)
